Preliminary Film Task

What is the task?
The task we've been given was to create a film including:
  • 180 degree rule
  • Match-on-action
  • Shot-reverse-Shot
  • A person opening a door
  • Walking across a room
  • Sitting down
  • Two people having a conversation
Initial Ideas
My first ideas on the task are to create an argument between two people as I think it will be more interesting to include some drama in the conversation rather than just a simple every-day conversation. It will be between two girls arguing about a boy, one of them can enter the room through the door and walk across the room, using two of the criteria points. If I film a dramatic conversation then I can use shot-reverse-shot using really quick cuts to create more tension for the viewer. To use match-on-action I can focus on the part when someone opens the door, as the girl opens to door I can make a quick focused cut onto her hand pushing open the door, using match-on-action. The girl will then walk across the room as it is one of the criteria and then approach the other girl at the table. When they are talking to each other I will be sure to use the 180 degree rule so that the viewer will not get confused as to who is talking and who they are talking to.

Planning
There will be a number of different things I have to do in this task to ensure I use all of the criteria listed, to do this I will have to stick to the following plan so that I know what I have to do, when I have to do it and how I will do it.
  • Create a script for the film
  • List of all of the shots that I will need in the film
  • Prepare all of the equipment I will need to make the film
  • Film all of the shots ready to be edited
  • Edit all of the shots together
  • Make transitions fit together perfectly
  • Add sound effects
  • Perfect the editing so everything runs smoothly
